This novella is the perfect quick visit with characters you already know and love.The Granny Apples series is set around a woman in her 40's (Emma Whitecastle) who suddenly realizes she can see and communicate with ghosts and then begins to help them by solving mysteries from the past. This offering has Emma's college aged daughter Kelly coming into her own gifts and helping a friend with a problem ghost.
I like the twist of this novella having Kelly be the main character instead of her mother Emma. It was a breath of fresh air to have the story center around young women in their 20's rather than the usual POV of a divorced woman in her 40's but at the same time Kelly is always aware and asking herself "how would Mom handle this".
Excited for the next full length Granny in April of next year but this was a great little appetizer to hold me over.

Really enjoyed reading this novella. Sue Ann continues to write interesting characters that you can relate to in such a style like you feel you are there, experiencing it along with the characters. Light hearted and funny, along with the mystery. Have read all the books in the Granny Apple series and I am a fan. Highly recommend!
This is a nice addition to the Granny Apples series, with daughter Kelly as the main character. Interesting and entertaining. I would love to read more!
Good story
I'm a big fan of the Granny Apples books, so I was eager to read this novella. It did not disappoint. Granny was feisty as always, and laugh out loud funny. I love this series; the characters are well developed, and if you believe in ghosts like I do, you will get a lot of enjoyment out of these books. Sue Ann never disappoints!
Loved the book. Enjoyed reading about Emma’s daughter. Love Granny Apple. Love the mystery and intrigue. Good book to read if enjoy mysteries.
This was a quick and wonderful read on my lunch hour today. Sue Ann Jaffarian flushes out her world of Granny Apples with Emma's daughter exploring her newly awakened paranormal gifts while in college. She also introduces a new character, a journalist, whom I can see helping Emma out in future Granny Apples stories. While I was slightly disappointed that Sue did not get into the meat-and-potatoes of the murder mystery (which she could not do justice in a novella) this was about Kelly accepting and using her new gifts, and Granny getting to play the tourist.
If you have not read any of Sue's Granny Apples mysteries before, this will introduce you in a quick read.
I had eagerly awaited Sue Ann Jaffarian's novella since last October when this fine author first mentioned its pre-order to us, and ~ as usual ~ she didn't disappoint her fans. I missed Emma in this novella, but Sue Ann didn't leave us dangling quite so precariously on the cliffhanger from the end of her last Granny Apples' book. She gave us at least a hint of what was happening elsewhere with the potential triangle of Emma, Phil, and Quinn. I enjoyed getting to know Kelly as she tested her paranormal wings with only the guidance of Granny, and I look forward to seeing more of Tanisha, too. As always, Granny was charmingly crusty, delightfully quirky, and sweetly devoted to protecting both young girls. I, too, would have liked for the mystery to be extended somewhat more, but I understand word-count limitations for a novella. This nibble definitely leaves us hungry for more! ) ♥
